Pupils from Baldernock Primary normally transfer to Douglas Academy at the end of P7.
There is close liaison between Baldernock Primary and Douglas Academy and regular meetings take place to ensure your child will have a smooth transition from P7 to S1. Our P7 pupils will get several opportunities to visit Douglas Academy before their transfer in August. The pupils will be invited to participate in the Programmes, organised by Douglas Academy, where they can take part in fun activities and get to make some new friends in an informal situation; pupils and parents will also be invited to information events and our P7 pupils will attend Douglas Academy for two full days in the summer term.
During the summer term members of Douglas Academy's Guidance and Senior Management Team will visit the children in class and meet with the class teachers in order to gather the relevant information that will ensure your child gets the best possible start at their new school.
Throughout the year staff from Baldernock Primary and Douglas Academy work together on a variety of projects that are designed to ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary education and regular meetings of Senior Staff ensures that we are all working towards the same high quality educational experiences for your child.
